It's been over a month and my husband still does not have a job. I am starting to look for work myself in the interim. Somehow, we thought he'd have a job by now, even though we know reality. I never thought our family would face this situation. It kinda seemed like something "other people" went through - not us. Foolishly, we were not financially prepared for this.
All that being said, I have struggled at times with anxious thoughts, worry, and even at times fight depression. From the core of my flesh negative thoughts rise.... (What will we do? How will we pay bills? Will we have to move? Where? How?) These thoughts can very easily consume me and take me out for the day! So, how do I overcome?? I have to DAILY take those thoughts and conquer them with God's word, His spirit within me and His promises. I must listen to the core of my soul! And I'm not going to pretend walking this out is always easy, but it is necessary!!
Bottom line is, sometimes we can not change our situation, only how we see out it! There are indeed positives in this storm! We have been able to re-focus on what is most important in this life. My kids have learned the difference between "wants" and "needs". We have been blessed with an abundance of family time. (sometimes more than I'd like, but I know it won't last for ever so I'd better enjoy it while it lasts!) . There is so much to thank God for....tangible blessings and for the ones that no one can take away!
This is the time for my faith to grow. I have a little black box I put on my fireplace mantle several weeks ago. Inside contains every blessing God has poured out on our family since my husband lost his job. I am forever grateful for prayers and the people who have been God's hands and feet to us. God is providing for us in simple ways and great ways. God is faithful and He is walking with us and sees our every need. We are blown away by our little black box and it increases our faith!
I am being reminded that truly stuff and status does not matter - PEOPLE do! How we love others matters! Our eternal future matters! And no matter what - I know that I was saved from my sins by a Savior who loves me more than anyone ever could. He has promised me eternity in heaven with Him. (this is a promise God has made and this promise is for ALL who want it!!) This is why I can have HOPE! This is why I can have PEACE in the middle of chaos! No one can take away my faith and my eternal future!
As crazy as it seems to some, I do believe in an invisible God that has shown himself faithful in very visible ways. I trust his promises are true because HE never changes! God never said life on earth would be perfectly awesome, but He does promise He will never leave us! So God, blaze the trail and we will follow!!
Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
